Kathryn Shell added her 5 star review for Agency Rules – Never an Easy Day at the Office today.
“Khalid Muhammad is able to write a political thriller with a personal knowledge of the location.
This spy thriller interested me, as the topic of terrorism and the news of poverty and corruption, especially in Pakistan, are with us all everyday. Worse still is overhearing bigoted comments born from ignorance. It makes me want to get to know the Pakistani people. I chose this book in the belief that it would grant me an insider’s viewpoint, a viewpoint that might help make me understand the news I hear from this region of the world that I’ve never visited. I do not accept the bigoted view that I’ve been hearing lately.
We are all neighbours in this world and one people. Great books put a human face to people in places we have never visited. The commonly expressed phrase, reading broadens the mind; I’ll add to that, only if you are selective with the materiel you read.
The Pakistani people are misunderstood by many, and the roots of terrorism are unfathomable to those who have never known the oppression or poverty that breeds it. I wanted to have a chance to get to know more through this book. The book fulfilled the promise of the blurb and more.
Khalid Muhammad has written an action packed thriller that was an enjoyable read. Fast paced, it kept me enthralled. I did learn more about Pakistan the politics, the Army, Sheiks, gangs and terrorists, which was my original reason to choose this book.
I highly recommend “Agency Rules – Never an Easy Day at the Office” by Khalid Muhammad.”
